When you’re in the middle of a relationship crisis, the last thing you want is a lecture from someone who has only read about life in a textbook. You want someone who has been in the trenches, someone who has felt the weight of a failing partnership, and someone who has done the hard work to find a way back to the light.
That is why I started Gabsterz.
The Intersection of Service and Study
My journey to becoming a relationship guide isn’t traditional. As a 100% service-connected US Army Combat Veteran, I spent years learning about resilience, discipline, and the importance of a strong support system. But when I returned home, I realized that the “battles” we face in our personal lives—marriage, communication, and emotional intimacy—require a completely different set of skills.
Currently, I am pursuing my degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. This academic path provides me with the clinical tools and theories needed to understand human behavior, but my life has provided the context.
Learning from the “Wrong” Turns
I’ll be the first to tell you: I haven’t always gotten it right. With two failed marriages in my past, I have a deep, personal understanding of how things can fall apart. For a long time, I looked at those experiences as failures. Today, I look at them as a roadmap.
They taught me:
- Where communication usually breaks down.
- How “unspoken” expectations can erode a bond.
- Why professional insight, paired with honest self-reflection, is the only way to heal.
What to Expect from Gabsterz
This blog isn’t just a collection of therapy buzzwords. It’s a place for honest, raw, and practical advice. My goal is to take the complex concepts I’m learning in my therapy studies and translate them into real-world solutions for you.
Whether you are navigating a current crisis or just want to ensure your relationship stays “problem-free,” I am here to share what I’ve learned from the books—and from life.
Let’s get to work on building something that lasts.
